The cap is covered in dark brown precious wood, referencing the scene in \"Rebel Without a Cause\" in which Dean wielded a switchblade - the writing instrument body itself takes the shape of that switchblade. The clip is ruthenium-plated and formed in the shape of a shotgun, a direct reference to the famous firefight scene in \"Giant\", Dean's final completed film. The fittings are ruthenium-plated throughout.
