Patron of Art

Montblanc's Patron of Art Edition honours the great benefactors of history, the figures whose financial and personal support made possible some of humanity's most enduring works of art, architecture, and music.

Where the Writer's Edition celebrates those who created with words, the Patron of Art Edition celebrates those who made creation possible. The series has honoured Lorenzo de' Medici, whose support sustained Botticelli, Michelangelo, and Leonardo da Vinci. It has honoured Catherine the Great, whose collecting formed the foundation of the Hermitage. Friedrich II of Prussia, Ludovico Sforza, Henry E. Steinway — each a figure whose patronage left a permanent mark on human culture.

Produced in more limited quantities than the Writer's Edition, typically with a standard edition and an ultra-rare patron-numbered edition of just eight pieces, the Patron of Art series sits at the top of Montblanc's limited edition programme. The build quality on these pieces frequently exceeds standard production models, incorporating hand-engraving, precious metals, and gemstone settings that reference the honoured patron's legacy specifically.

Pre-owned Patron of Art editions are among the rarest pieces that pass through The Pen Collective. When we carry them, they are documented thoroughly, authenticated rigorously, and priced to reflect both condition and scarcity.
