Writer's Edition

Since 1992, Montblanc's annual Writer's Edition has honoured the world's most significant literary figures with a writing instrument that attempts to capture something of their spirit, their era, and their contribution to the written word.

Each Writer's Edition is produced in limited quantities and retired permanently at the end of its release year. The series has honoured Fyodor Dostoevsky, Ernest Hemingway, Virginia Woolf, Franz Kafka, Oscar Wilde, Jules Verne, Voltaire, and many others. Each pen incorporates design details, materials, and engravings that reference the honoured writer's life and work specifically.

The Hemingway edition featured a mottled brown and black barrel referencing the writer's safari notebooks. The Agatha Christie edition incorporated a deep red barrel referencing the poisonous plants that appeared throughout her work. The Virginia Woolf edition used a deep blue-green that recalled the waters of the River Ouse. Every Writer's Edition tells a story before it writes one.
